Anchor is a collaborative chair by Sundance Studio (Emma Shepherd) and Postie. Made from silk, linen, stone, and folded mild steel, the piece explores the quiet tension between structure and softness. The steel frame is deliberately restrained, allowing the textiles to lead while celebrating weaving as both process and craft, with materials left largely unembellished. Referencing traditional loom weights, the draped backrest connects to two suspended stone anchors, carefully selected for balance. These stones float freely, echoing their function in textile production, while the angled backrest supports ergonomic comfort and preserves the illusion of suspension. Designed to evolve over time, Anchor traces subtle interactions as stone marks steel and threads stretch, allowing the object to accumulate a quiet material history shaped by gravity, touch, and use.
